This entire post contains spoilers from the series. Do not read unless you, yourself have finished the entire series. I've just finished "Kingdom of Ash" and it wasn't really what I thought it would be. I mean, don't get me wrong it was really great and I'm happy with how everything wrapped up but I feel like I was expecting...more. My thoughts could just be more on the somber side because I've just finished a series and I always get sad when that happens but I didn't expect Aelin to lose her powers when she forged the lock. I did expect her and Dorian to go in together, but I wasn't thinking that they would lose some of their powers. And I didn't really love the fact that Dorian's dad showed up... like why not have it be Aelin's parents or Yeren's mom or Nehemia? I'm happy that Elide and Lorcan got over themselves and I'm happy that Adeion finally got his head out of his ass about Lysandra. Gavriel did not need to die, I'm mad about that. I felt like Sarah needed someone to die, but it couldn't be any of the other mains so she just picked Gavriel even though it was so unnecessary. I'm upset that Aelin didn't go running into Rowan's arms after she was rescued from Maeve. I don't know, I just felt like all the other books were so spectacular and they all got better and better as they went on (excluding Tower of Dawn), and I thought "Kingdom of Ash" would be this, over the top, amazing, grand finale wrap up of the series and it just barely fell short of my expectations. I did still love it and overall I'm happy with how it turned out, I just felt like there were some things that were unnecessary or things that didn't need to be talked about and were. I'm starting A Court of Thorns and Roses next, so we'll see how that goes. I'm so excited theres more Maas for me to read! Until next time,
